PONTCHARTRAIN PARK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING OCTOBER 20, 2012 Call to order - Gretchen Bradford, President Prayer- Mrs Fields Approval of minutes September 15, 2012 by Hurby Oubre and Shelia Hyde. No questions. Motion passed. Finance report -Unavailable due to treasurer's absence Communication from the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office announcing the first Annual New Orleans Neighborhood Summit. Titled Sustainable Neighborhoods; Preparing Leaders, Connecting Communities and Promoting Effective Strategies, is a one day professional development conference for Orleans Parish neighborhood association leaders and members. Will offer skills development workshops. Scheduled for November 17, 2012, 8:30-4:00p. Christmas Celebration – Requested volunteers for event. Suggestions for event would be lighting of Christmas Tree, Toy Drive, House Decorating contest. Suggestion to sell suppers for fundraising. Suppers to be sold every Friday in November except Friday after Thanksgiving. Location, 4230 Mithra. Committee formed. Hillary Shackai gave update on Press Dr project. She will be meeting with the Department of Public Works on next week regarding the condition of the trees after Hurricane Issac. Mall update – Walmart has bought the building but has hazard mitigation testing to be done. Wesley Barrow Stadium sustained minor damage from Hurricane Issac. The fence needs repairing.
